When starting a business, you wouldn't give your heat and hydro a sales goal. That doesn't make sense does it? To say "Heat and hydro cost $350 per month, and therefore just by providing heat and hydro we should bring in $350 worth of business" is absolutely crazy. It misses every other part of business. 

You cannot be in business unless you have a product or service to sell: that is essential to business. Period. Every single business has a purpose, a problem to solve, a need or want to fulfill.

I love all the new technologies, social media opportunities, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, to name a few of the amazing resources offering us tools to help us build our business, which in turn can lead to our continued success.

There is no question today that people are hungry for human connection - any kind will do. I viewed a video that gave astounding statistics on how many people are connected to Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter etc. We need to keep in touch, follow-up, like or tweet our friends, family, co-workers - it seems this is the life for many.

Although I find the end of the summer the best time of the year for making new business goals, most entrepreneurs take advantage of the New Year to write down some new goals for their business. I believe as many do, if you don't take the time to decide where you are headed in your business, you stay exactly where you are.  The whole purpose of owning a business is to ensure you are progressing in the growth and services you offer your customers. We aren't meant to uphold the status quo - if we did, we could almost guarantee business failure.

The Small Business Community Network (SBCN) has, for many years, offered the Members of the SBCN a chance to showcase their expertise via their blogs/articles, and more recently, videos, on the Home Page of the Small Business Community Network home page. That is quite an opportunity, and if you know anything about content marketing, or have read what Arriana Huffington has to say about sharing your content on line, you will definitely agree!

Technology concepts are changing every day, and speech recognition is no different. What is speech recognition? Any technology that allows you turn talk into text! Dragon NaturallySpeaking is one of these technologies, and you may not even know that you are using it. If you have a new iPhone and are using Siri, that is a form of speech recognition. Siri is listening to your words and commands and performing the actions you are requesting. How about Android users?

Do you network and at that how much time do you spend networking. When people ask me about it, I tell them how much time I spend and they look at me like I’m crazy! Am I?  Well no, I am not. My business is networking and as such I do it to the tee. I often coach clients on networking; teaching them the ins and outs of networking, tricks and tips, and so on.

I will be writing a full blog about networking, but in the mean time here are several events happening in KW.
