The Small Business Community Network (SBCN) has, for many years, offered the Members of the SBCN a chance to showcase their expertise via their blogs/articles, and more recently, videos, on the Home Page of the Small Business Community Network home page. That is quite an opportunity, and if you know anything about content marketing, or have read what Arriana Huffington has to say about sharing your content on line, you will definitely agree!
Taken from Wikipedia:
"Content marketing is any marketing format that involves the creation and sharing of media and publishing content in order to acquire customers. This information can be presented in a variety of formats, including news, video, white papers, e-books, infographics, case studies, how-to guides, question and answer articles, photos, etc.
Content marketing is focused not on selling, but on simply communicating with customers and prospects. The idea is to inspire business and loyalty from buyers by delivering "consistent, ongoing valuable information"
If you are a small business owner and do not take the opportunity to use all the social media platforms offered today and place your conent on those sites, along with other sites where you are invited to share your content, then you are missing out big time. There is enough time in the day to write a short article, you don't have to be an author, you just need to write from your heart about your passion and at the same time help others by sharing your particular expertise.
Forbes published an article that may help you understand why big brands use content marketing and continue to do so.
It's not about selling, it's about being "there" being noticed and people getting to know you via the content you share online. This is an extremely easy thing to do, the concept is simple and, most of the time, it is free to do. How do I know content marketing is successful? When I was unknown, many years ago, I searched the web until I could find other businesses websites and blogs that wanted people to submit their content on their sites, and within a short time I had a Google presence. I soon began to write my own blogs, articles, offer tips via my content, share my expertise with others and slowly but surely I became known and this helped me grow two businesses in the past 10 years.
You won't know if content marketing works if you don't try it, so give it a go, today and see where it takes you.
