Why Polarverse Eats Its Own Dog Food

Dog Food

At Polarverse our policy is if we don’t use it, we don’t sell it.  This starts with computers, to phones to cloud services.  I’d like to share with you a recent personal experience I had recently that made me very glad that we eat our own dog food.

On July 20th during a standard upgrade to my system board’s internal program (BIOS) the upgrade hung, this is really not a good spot for this to happen as it can result in damage to the board and my machine would no longer boot to windows (just beeped).  I tried a couple of standard fixes but that was it the system board was toast.  My computer was not going to start, it was 9am on a Wednesday and this was my main computer for doing my work and supporting my clients – but I did not panic because I knew I was covered.

I was up in running in 5 minutes as if nothing had happened!  How is that possible?

My computer is backed up to an image via my datto unit twice a day and I had a confirmed screenshot from the night before that the backup was good and within minutes of accessing my backup folder I had a virtual machine running and had full access to my system, and I didn’t need to worry about my files being out of date since the backup ran last night because all my data is synced to cloud storage via dattodrive.

I was back on my original computer the next day!  How did that happen?

I only sell Lenovo computer products because they have a great support department and offer onsite 24×7 warranty repair.  A quick call to Lenovo support, explanation of the problem and a tech arrived at my house with the replacement part the next day and installed it for me.  Booted up and everything was exactly as I had left it and continued on like nothing had ever happened! (and again data was current because it synced to the cloud via dattodrive)

Overall downtime during business hours was zero!

It’s a good feeling to be able to work and not worry about data loss, the above is a typical setup we have in place for all clients in our managed services program.  If you’d like to know more about how this all works or how it can benefit your business call us at 519.489.0646 and ask for Chris.
