Why do we dislike being "sold to"?

When we hear the word “selling” of any kind, we want to run. The truth of the matter is, we are being sold to everyday. Everything from clothing, cars, and even our toothpaste has been marketed to us. 

Why are we so hesitant to buy from a MLM company or any direct seller?

Many pyramid schemes have been disguised as MLM or direct sales companies made millions misleading others, hence the word "scheme" often being added when referring to MLM or Direct Sales.

Most consumers don’t know that MLM are more often just like any other corporation. There is a CEO, Board of Directors, Management team and the bottom line workers. The difference between them and direct sellers, is that these direct sellers are able to work hard and reap the financial benefits that come along with it, where in a corporation, they work on a wage.

Why consider buying from Direct Sellers?

Direct sellers are entrepreneurs who sell high quality products that they believe in.  Direct sellers need to work harder to gain your trust and attention. People need time to trust a company or product and make an informed decision before choosing one over the other, unlike the bigger companies like Home Depot and Wal-Mart who have big advertising budgets that allow them to get their brand in front of you daily through TV, radio, print, social media sponsored ads. 

Direct sellers are your neighbours, friends, and family that are trying to make a little extra money to get out of debt, create savings, or have a dream that they cannot achieve in the standard 9-5 job. They are the people you know and trust.

So, the next time you meet someone who runs a “home business” or “MLM” give them a high five for taking their career and life into their own hands and becoming an entrepreneur.
