Website Wisdom

If you're going to put up a website for your business, make sure your content is clear, coherent, consistent, and that it correctly portrays the service or product you're selling.

Pages that are too full of content are distracting, and so are grammatical and spelling errors. I wonder if the business owner is aware of them and how those errors might impact the business.

Make your written communications the best they can be.

Bil Ioannidis Financial Insights Weekly - Mid Year Market Review

Mid-year market review

Message from Scott Penman, Executive Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer Investors Group Inc.

Following four consecutive quarters of positive returns we are reminded, after experiencing a negative quarter, markets don't always grow in a straight line. Results like this can test investor resolve and may lead to questions like "is the recovery over?"
The short answer:

Not likely.

Reasons for recent challenged market activity

Have You Dressed Your Social Media Window Yet?

Have you noticed how stores dress their windows? They want to show off their products so arrange the dresses, shoes, purses, etc nicely in the window for all to see. Some stores have taken to putting curtains in the windows and not showing people what they sell until the customer walks into the store. I think once you have taken the leap of faith and walked into one of these stores to see what they sell you probably know straight away if you are going back or not. I notice the younger generation clothes stores definitely are popular with the curtained window idea.

Do You Network Naked?

I love to network, face to face, online, on the phone, I was definitely born to network. Saying that I am intuitive and I pick things up fast. I listen, learn, take notice and see how the experts do it because they do it well. Recently I experienced the joy of meeting one of my hero's who is well known on the social network sites, particularly Twitter. That person is Scott Stratten, President of Unmarketing. Scott mentions in his seminar that being transparent will take you far. I took this one step further and thought about transparency being mistaken for being naked.
